Thames Alive exists to promote and revitalise the river by coordinating activities and attractions like the recent Henry VIII Coronation Tudor Pageant. Ray Little’s great photographs of the event are an excellent illustration of how The Thames can still capture the public’s imagination. NB. Prints can be ordered via this downloadable form.
Northern Exposure
Northern Exposure Rescue is a registered charity that’s supported the Great River Race since 2006. Each year they bring together an army of 70 volunteers from across the country to man the 35 safety boats we need to get all of our competitors safely to the finish line in Richmond. They have a lot of experience in supporting marine events across the UK and they’ve got a history of some of the most prestigious events such as the Thames Diamond Jubilee River Pageant, the Olympic Torch Relay, Dartmouth Week, the RYA Youth Regatta and of course the Great River Race!

The centre was opened in 1989, funded by the London Docklands Development Corporation and the Sports Council at a cost of £1.2 million with the aim of providing recreational water activities for all sections of the community living and working in the local area.

Choosing to travel on the Viscount is to experience the unique style that only she can offer. The Viscount is an original Thames Steamer launched for the first time in 1908. She has witnessed over 100 years of changing English heritage and history along the River Thames. The Viscount is available all year round for private parties, weddings and corporate events.
The Royal Benevolent and Educational Fund for Watermen and Lightermen has as its patron, Her Majesty The Queen. It is the result of the merger of a number of charities. The Charity provides relief for people working or who have worked on the River Thames in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by grants or almshouse or the provision of education, training and coaching for rowing. It gives priority to Freemen, people working as Watermen and Lightermen and then others involved on inland waterways.
Ocean to City - An Rás Mór is Ireland's very own long-distance rowing race attracting hundreds of participants annually.
Now in its tenth year, it has grown from its origin as a race for traditional fixed-seat boats into an all-inclusive rowing event, embracing everything from traditional wooden working boats, currachs, skiffs, gigs and longboats to contemporary ocean racing shells, kayaks and canoes.
With thousands of spectators each year, the race is a real flagship event for Cork Harbour; one of the largest natural harbours in the world.
An Rás Mór (''The Big Race'') covers 15 nautical miles (28 km) and appeals to a wide range of rowers and paddlers from across Ireland and beyond.
It includes races over four distances, all finishing to a warm welcome in Cork's city centre.
