Boats: Boat PackagesEver since the success of the first Great River Race we have been approached by people keen to take part but without access to suitable craft, and often with little or no rowing experience. We have always believed that the Race should be enjoyed by as many people as possible so, with the cooperation of several friendly boat owners, we have put together a programme of boat hire packages designed to suit all groups, big or small. All include boat insurance (but not personal crew cover), delivery of craft to Start and collection from Finish, a minimum of two practice sessions and appropriate compulsory training for novices. Boats are handicapped from 0 to 65+ minutes from the Start according to the computer-calculated potential performance of individual boat types, regardless of their crews, meaning classes are won by the crew extracting the most performance from its craft. Handicaps quoted are approximate as they will change from year to year according to the spread of boat types entered.
